The grapes were grown on our Cellar Door vineyard, on the banks of the Para river. This is our 17th release of Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is partially barrel fermented in new French oak barriques.
The wine is full bodied style showing the hallmarks of a wine with great Cabernet character.

Cabernet Franc [Tasting Notes ] [Tech Notes]
The grapes were grown on our Golf Links Vineyard in the Barossa Valley. This is our twelfth release of a Cabernet Franc varietal. Over the years we have produced some wonderfully balanced Cab Franc varietal wines. We believe this wine to be the best we have produced thus far. The wine is a medium bodied style highlighting the characteristics of Cabernet Franc.

Shiraz
Shiraz | [Tasting Notes ] [Tech Notes]

The grapes were grown on our Rowland Flat Vineyard which adjoins the North Para River in the Barossa Valley. The 2006 vintage was kind to us, despite the drought conditions. This wine completed fermentation in new and two year old seasoned American oak.

Rose
Rose| [Tasting Notes ] [Tech Notes]
cab
We have chosen to make our ‘08 Rose from the Cabernet Franc varietal because of its lovely herbaceous characteristics and vibrant fruit flavours. This wine has an almost fluorescent pink colour, lifted aromatics, lovely cherry and wild strawberry flavors, and a crisp, mouth-filling finish.

cab franc
The grapes were grown on our Rowland Flat Vineyard situated along the river flats that adjoin the North Para River in the Barossa Valley. This is our 20th consecutive varietal Semillon release. This wine has pronounced fruity, lemongrass and zesty lemon tang.

shiraz
This is a very complex oak matured Chardonnay. The vineyard which adjoins the North Para River in the Barossa Valley was planted in 1977. The vines are spur-pruned and mechanically harvested in the
cool of the night to retain the essence of this wonderful fruit.

ESTATE PRODUCED
BAROSSA VALLEY WINES

The History

Johann Jenke arrived in Port Adelaide in 1854 and settled in the Barossa. Our family were part of the wave of German immigration at this time as they were fleeing the religious persecution in Silesia (East Germany). Our family have now tended the same family vineyards for  six  generation’s. The family made its first wine under the Jenke label in 1989..

The Vineyard

The vineyard is situated on the rich alluvial river flats of the North Para River, at Rowland Flat, at the southern end of the Barossa Valley. It consists of 140 acres of premium Barossa grapes. The grape varieties include Chardonnay, Semillon, Grenache, Mourvedre, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Many vineyards are well over 50 years old. The vines are all hand pruned on single wire vertical trellis systems. ..

The Wines

A small range of Barossa varietals are released each year from the Jenke Vineyards. The aim is to produce wines that best show their Barossa  varietal  highlights.
The Jenke wines have won many awards, including the trophy for  the  best varietal Semillon at Barossa wine show 4 times .  Our Semillon has also taken out the prestigious South Australia ‘Wine of the Year’ at the Advertiser / Hyatt wine awards in 2006 and 2007 .
A barrel fermented Chardonnay is also produced.
Reds are 80% of  production at Jenke Vineyards. A traditional Barossa Shiraz is produced as well as a full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet Franc, Merlot . Grenache /  Shiraz blend is  also produced. In the best years we release a ‘reserve’ varietal of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, this represents our best barrels of the vintage !
